Police Investigating Whether Street Race Killed Man in Gwinnett County

Victim, from Norcross, struck a tree.

Gwinnett County police are investigating whether an illegal street race was responsible for a car wreck that killed a Norcross man.

Paul Bohaczyk, 25, was driving a 1998 Ford Mustang eastbound on Ronald Reagan Parkway when he lost control of the car between Bethesda Church Road and Five Forks Trickum Road.

The Mustang ran off the road, striking a steel guardrail and a tree, and Bohaczyk died at the scene of the crash, which occurred just before 7 a.m. Wednesday.

"A witness informed investigators that the driver of the Mustang was driving at a high rate of speed with another vehicle or possibly racing that other vehicle," Gwinnett police Cpl. Ed Ritter told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Police have not released a description of that other vehicle.

The crash was the second in as many days in which a person died when a vehicle ran off a north metro road and hit a tree.

Early Tuesday, Chase Alexander Luther, 23, was killed when the pickup truck he was driving ran off Hembree Road in Roswell and slammed into a tree.
