Police: Suspects Used Fake Identities to Steal Expensive Cars

Two high-end vehicle were fraudulently purchased within one week from a Gwinnett County car dealership.

Police are looking for two suspects who used false identities to purchase high-end vehicles at a Gwinnett County car dealership.

At this point, the two cases are not believed to be connected, though they happened less than a week apart at United BMW in Duluth.

In both cases, the suspects had completed the purchasing process sufficiently enough to be allowed to drive the vehicles off the lot. Both cars were reported stolen and were recovered later.

On May 21, a woman in her early 30’s used fake identification to purchase an Audi S7 valued at $76,000, according to a Gwinnett Police press release. Atlanta PD found the vehicle later.

Gwinnett Police released a photo (attached to this article) from the woman’s fake ID. Witnesses confirmed the woman in the photo is the same person suspected in the theft.

On May 27, a man in his late 30s or early 40s used a similar tactic to purchase a BMW 650XI, valued at $98,000. The car was later recovered in Chicago. Police released a photo of the man (attached), taken at the time of the alleged fraud.
