Report: Search Near Dacula Related to Justin Gaines, Missing Since 2007

Sheriff's Office personnel have been searching an area off Drowning Creek Road.

Gwinnett Sheriff's Office investigators have been searching in a wooded area near Dacula, working on a lead in the case of Justin Gaines, who has been missing since 2007.

The Gwinnett Daily Post reported that authorities were using a backhoe off Drowning Creek Road on Thursday, and were expecting to work the area into the night. Sheriff's Office spokesperson Shannon Volkodav told the newspaper the investigators were working off of a lead.

Gaines, of Snellville, was 18 at the time of his disappearance more than 6 years ago. He was last seen on Nov. 2, 2007 at Wild Bill’s near Duluth.

FoxAtlanta first reported the possible break earlier in the day.

The TV station reported on its website that Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office investigators were searching an around an old well “on a remote road” in an undisclosed location.
