Robbery Charge Dropped for Man Accused of Stealing From Dacula Woman

Alleged robbery was said to have occurred after a night of drinking at Taco Mac.

A Suwanee man who was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail for allegedly robbing a Dacula woman is no longer facing charges.

Gwinnett County Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Rich Vandever confirmed the robbery charge against 55-year-old Daryl Savell had been dropped. Vandever said the decision was made after interviewing the woman and other witnesses and reviewing video surveillance.

"There wasn't enough evidence to support the charges," Vandever said.

Savell was taken into custody after police were called to a Dacula residence on Aug. 14. Savell remained jailed until Aug. 19.

A letter purporting to be from Savell was distributed to several homeowners in his Suwanee subdivision. In the letter, the author disputes all of the allegations in the police report and said he was merely trying to assist the woman.
