Sheriff’s Office Issues Warning About Work From Home Scam

An advertisement refers to a fictitious woman from Lawrenceville, Ga.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a fraudulent online make money from home scam.

The advertisements, which usually begin with “stay at home mom makes $$$ a month,” mention a woman by the name of Amy Livingston who is referred to as a mom from Lawrenceville, Ga.

“This Amy Livingston is not from Lawrenceville Georgia. In fact investigators learned the website was registered in the Ukraine,” wrote Lt. S.W. Smith in a press release.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages citizens to carefully research any money-making ventures.

“Sheriff [Butch] Conway wants to caution the community that the Amy Livingston that is used in several of these online advertisements and e-blasts in not from Gwinnett County,” Smith added.  “If you get involved in any on-line business opportunities please investigate the validity of the opportunity before you partner with these different ventures.”
