Woman charged with shoplifting after she is caught leaving the store with stolen merchandise.

A 20-year-old employee is facing shoplifting charges after attempting to steal several items of clothing.

Payton Downs Day, of 938 Century Oak Drive in Winder, is accused of concealing clothing and attempting to leave the store without paying for the items. According to the Gwinnett County Police report, Day took several items of newborn apparel into a dressing room after her shift ended on July 7 and concealed them on her person. Day then allegedly walked out of the store without paying for the concealed merchandise. A loss prevention officer stopped Day and brought her back into the store. Day subsequently admitted stealing the items and provided a written admission of guilt.

Day was transported to the Gwinnett County Jail and released the following day on a $1,300 bond.
