Store Employees Reportedly Robbed at Gunpoint

Two of the three suspects "smelled distinctly of marijuana" according to one of the victims.

Two retail employees escaped injury during a recent armed robbery at the Dacula Road Autozone.

Shortly after 2 p.m. on Dec. 19, an Autozone employee noticed two males waiting at the register as if they wanted to make a purchase. The employee told police he was walking behind the counter to get to the register when one of the males pushed him to the floor.

“The male then pushed what [the employee] assumed to be a pistol to the back of his head and told him to lie there and be quiet,” the officer wrote in the incident report.

While the two males detained the first employee, a third suspect walked into a part of the store designated for employees only and reportedly pointed a gun at a second employee. According to the second employee, the suspect demanded he open the safe and remove the money.

“[The second employee] crouched down to the safe and then acted like he didn’t want to open the safe,” the report stated. “The suspect kicked him to the ground, pointed a gun at his head and stated, ‘Open the safe or I’ll kill you.’ [The second employee] opened the safe and the male removed all the cash from the inside.”

The suspect then forced the second employee to open all three of the cash drawers at the front of the store. The three robbers then ran out of the store and left in a 4-door passenger vehicle.

The two male suspects who detained the first employee were both described as black males between the ages of 25 and 30. The first male was approximately 6-foot-1 with an athletic build, closely cropped hair and no facial hair. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a dirty white undershirt with what appeared to be grease stains and blue jeans. The second male was approximately 6-foot-2 with a muscular build, “scruffy” facial hair and “bushy, short afro-type hair.” He was wearing a “greasy” navy blue hoodie and darker color blue jeans at the time of the incident. According to the first employee, both suspects “smelled distinctly of marijuana.”

The third suspect was described as a 5-foot-10 white male, 30-35 years of age and weighing roughly 180 pounds. The suspect had closely cropped blonde hair and was armed with a short-barreled silver revolver with a black grip.

The suspects’ vehicle is believed to have been a 2008-2009 white Ford Fusion sedan. One of the employees indicated the vehicle had a dent in the rear passenger-side quarter panel that had some rust present.

The suspects allegedly escaped with $1,400 in cash and the first employee’s iPhone.

There was no video surveillance of the incident and no known witnesses. The case is listed as active.
