Suspect in Custody in Double Homicide

Police have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the deaths of two children.

A suspect is now in custody in connection with the stabbing deaths of two children last night in Lawrenceville.

According to a Gwinnett County Police press release, Antonio Cardenas-Rico, 28, has been charged with two counts of murder. Cardenas-Rico is currently being held in the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 9, police responded to a 911 call at a residence on Bridle Path Drive in Lawrenceville. Officers located 23-year-old Elvis Garcia outside the home suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.

Two children, Bradley Garcia, 3, and Edward Garcia, 1, were found dead in the basement of the home. Both boys had been stabbed. A third child, age 3, was also stabbed. The child was life-flighted to a children’s hospital in Atlanta.

Gwinnett County Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said the investigation is ongoing.
