Suspicious House Fire Under Investigation

A fire investigator determined the incident was an act of arson.

An overnight fire in the 5000 block of Pilgrim Lane in Auburn is under investigation as an act of arson.

Fire crews were dispatched to the vacant, trailer-type home at 12:36 a.m. on Nov. 9. Firefighters arrived within six minutes and the fire was under control at 1:30 a.m. according to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services public information officer Colin S. Rhoden.

The single family residence was completely engulfed when police and fire arrived at the scene.

"Fire hoses were quickly deployed and an aggressive exterior attack was done to the house," Rhoden said in a released statement. Β 

Rhoden indicated that due to the advanced stage of the fire, the structure was burned to the foundation. There were no injuries reported.
