Teen Reportedly Raped Inside Braselton Highway Home

Gwinnett County Police are investigating an alleged rape of a 16-year-old Winder teen.

The victim, who lives with her father in Winder, was visiting her mother’s home on Braselton Highway when the attack reportedly took place.

According to the victim, she was home alone at her mother’s house on the morning of Nov. 23 when her ex-boyfriend, a 16-year-old Dacula resident, entered the home while she was still sleeping.

The suspect reportedly went to the victim’s room and “jumped on top” of her. The victim told police the suspect was not wearing a mask and made no attempt to conceal his identity. The suspect allegedly tied the victim’s wrists to the bedposts and raped her. Before leaving, the suspect released the victim.

The victim subsequently discovered her key in the door to the house. The ex-boyfriend had visited the house the day before the attack to retrieve his hat and a jacket, the victim said. The victim told police she believes the suspect stole the house key while he was in the home.

The victim and the suspect dated for a little over a month. According to the victim, the suspect was never sexually aggressive or violent during the time they dated. However, the victim said she had received several threatening text messages since the alleged attack. The attack was reported by phone and the officer did not get to see the messages.

The investigation was turned over to a detective with the special victim’s unit. The case is listed as active.
