Three Arrested After Target Shooting Near Children’s Shelter

Some property damage reported, but no injuries. Beer can and paper plates also riddled with bullet holes.

Three men were arrested after practicing their riflery skills on Gwinnett Children’s Shelter property.

An employee called police after hearing gunshots in the woods behind the Buford facility. The woman said the shots sounded as if they were very close to the Tuggle Road shelter and that the children were frightened by the gunfire.

Two officers walked into the woods to investigate. The officers located the three shooters -- Jon Hull of Dacula and Clifford Kramb and Adam Stone of Buford -- on shelter property. The men said they had been target shooting in the area before, but never in that exact location. All three shooters were armed with .22 caliber long rifles. One of the men had been drinking beer, but, according to the police report, did not appear intoxicated.

The shooters had placed targets, which included paper plates and a beer can hanging by a string, on a wooden overlook and bench owned by the shelter. The beer can and paper plates had multiple bullet holes as did the bench, railing and vertical support beam of the overlook.

After learning of the damage, the shelter employee advised officers that volunteers had recently repainted the bench and laid new mulch around the overlook. The employee said she wished to press charges to ensure the men were forced to pay for the damages.

Kramb, Hull and Stone were transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center and charged with one count each of criminal trespass.
