'Top Rank Goonies' Gang Members Blamed for Fights, Gunfire at Dacula House Party

Two separate fights took place. The incident remains under investigation.

Gwinnett County Police are investigating a June 9 incident which reportedly involved multiple gang members.

Police were dispatched to a house on Jim Moore Road just after midnight this past Saturday in response to a report of shots fired. The first officer to arrive at the scene saw several people running from the residence towards the roadway.

The officer positioned his vehicle across the driveway in an attempt to keep suspects, witnesses and victims from leaving the scene. Eventually, officers gained control of approximately 20 people at the residence.

Police determined three of the individuals had been the subject of an assault. One of the subjects, an 18-year-old Buford teen, said he and his friends were attending a party at the house. While at the party, his 16-year-old brother was reportedly beaten by several other males. As the older brother walked his younger brother to the car, the younger brother identified three males sitting in a black Dodge passenger car as his attackers.

At that point, the older brother "got into a physical altercation" with one of the males who had reportedly struck his brother. Two other males quickly joined in and all were allegedly "beating on" the older brother. During the fight, the older brother said he heard someone shout that police were on the way. The three males headed toward their vehicle and one of the males allegedly said, "Oh yeah. You about to get shot."

The older brother told police he was heading toward the Dodge passenger car when one of the passengers pointed a pistol at him and fired a shot, which missed. All three of the older brother's alleged attackers then left the scene in the Dodge along with a fourth male. The older brother informed the officer the three males he fought with are members of the "Top Rank Goonies" gang -- a gang which falls under the Gangster Disciples according to the report.

The younger brother corroborated his brother's account of the incident. A friend of the younger brother, a 16-year-old Duluth teen, tried to help the younger brother when he was attacked by the other males and was also punched and kicked.

All three teens had visible injuries and were treated at the scene by medics.

A resident of the home witnessed both fights and the gunshot, but was unable to provide police with details regarding the alleged shooter. No other witnesses interviewed by police were able to positively identify the shooter.

Police recovered a shell casing in the dirt driveway near the location where witnesses said the gun was fired. Police were also able to obtain names of the individuals who were reportedly in the Dodge passenger vehicle.

No arrests were made, but the older brother was briefly handcuffed and cited for disorderly conduct after refusing to stop talking as officers attempted to investigate and gain control of the incident scene.

The case is listed as active and has been forwarded to detectives for further investigation.
