Two Guns, 14 Fully Loaded Magazines Stolen in Hamilton Mill Car Break-in

Item belonging to victim later found in truck that had been reported stolen from a Hamilton Mill residence.

Police are investigating a vehicle theft and two possibly related car break-ins that occurred in Hamilton Mill on July 2.

On the morning of July 2, Gwinnett County Police responded to a reported car break-in on Mill Park Terrace. The thief or thieves had gained access to the vehicle by smashing a rear window. The victim said several items were missing including two .45 caliber pistols and 14 fully loaded magazines.

Less than half an hour later, another officer was dispatched to a nearby Millwater Crossing residence where another car break-in had occurred during the overnight hours. The victim, who had left his car doors unlocked, reported that two watches, an iPod and a Craftsman socket wrench set had been taken.

Later that morning, a Sanborne Way resident called police to report her son’s 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup had been stolen. The woman said her son had left the keys on the seat of the vehicle.

Two days later on July 4, Gwinnett Police were called to investigate a suspicious vehicle in the 2100 block of Hamilton Mill Parkway. The vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, was the same vehicle that had been reported stolen in Hamilton Mill on July 2.

Inside the truck, the officer found a blue binder bearing the name of the victim in the Mill Park Terrace car break-in.

The vehicle was impounded and transported to police headquarters to be processed by the crime scene investigations unit.

All three cases are listed as active.
