Unlocked Car Door, Unattended Phone Draw Attention of Thieves

Both incidents took place at Rabbit Hill Park.

Unsecured valuables proved too great a temptation for a thief or thieves at Rabbit Hill Park on Aug. 23.

A Dacula High School student told police he left his cellphone near the basketball court while he played a couple of games. When he returned to retrieve his phone, it was gone. The teen said he used a friend's phone to call his phone. When he did, an unknown individual answered the phone and asked the teen for the passcode so that he could unlock the phone.

Earlier that day, a Dacula woman also became a victim of theft while at the park. According to the police report, the woman left her vehicle unlocked while at the park. When she returned to her car, she discovered her wallet had been taken.

Both cases are listed as active.
