Weird Police Stories of the Week: There's More Than One Way to Hit and Run

Northeast Georgia has its share of unusual occurrences.

A Grayson man was charged with hit and run after after crashing into a mailbox and some trees. Police tracked him down by phone and also charged him with driving under the influence, failure to report striking a fixed object and improper/erratic lane change.

In Athens, a 340-pound suspected shoplifter is accused of punching a pursuing employee in the face while dropping cans of stolen beer, the Athens Banner-Herald reports. The woman, also accused of pepper spraying another employee, told police writing the report to make it "interesting so that her arrest would make the police blotter,” which seems to have worked.

A Winder busboy denied off a dining table, until surveillance video showed him doing it. Then he took police officers behind the building to where he'd hidden the phone.
