Window Tint Violation Leads to Arrests for Drugs, Theft

Two North Carolina men taken into custody after traffic stop on I-85 near Hamilton Mill Road.

Dark window tint on an Eagle Vision caught the attention of a Gwinnett County Police officer during an April 24 patrol on I-85 near Hamilton Mill Road, but it was the stolen tag and smell of burned marijuana that kept the officer's interest and ultimately landed two North Carolina men in jail.

After stopping the vehicle for the window tint violation, the officer discovered the tag had been reported stolen. The officer approached the vehicle and noticed an odor of burned marijuana inside the car. When asked for his license, the driver, later identified as Ikechukwu Emodi, 29, of Durham, N.C., said it was in the trunk of the vehicle. The officer asked if the license was suspended and Emodi admitted it was and that he was in the process of getting his driving privileges restored.

During the conversation, the officer noticed marijuana residue on the passenger floor and dashboard. Once backup arrived, Emodi and his passenger, Darion Revels, 18, also of Durham, N.C., were taken into custody.
