Windows Smashed, Purse Stolen in Hamilton Mill

Both vehicles entered in broad daylight while owners at pool area.

Two vehicles were damaged last week when a brazen thief or thieves smashed windows with the car owners nearby.

The incidents occurred at the Lakeview clubhouse in Hamilton Mill on Hamilton Mill Parkway near Hog Mountain Road. In the first case, the rear driver’s side window of a silver BMW was smashed and a purse stolen. The purse had been concealed under a sweater in the rear floorboard of the car.

The purse contained the victim’s credit cards, driver’s license, checks, cash and a Raymond Weil ladies watch with a listed value of $1,000.

In the other incident, the thief or thieves smashed the window of a Nissan Pathfinder. The victim in that case advised she had taken her valuables with her to the pool area.

Both cases are listed as active.

Police are also investigating several entering autos that occurred at the Millview pool in Hamilton Mill. According to Gwinnett County Police Department public information officer Cpl. Edwin Ritter, officers were called to the pool area shortly after 4 p.m. on June 5 in response to three separate car break-ins. Details on those incidents are not yet available.

The Gwinnett County Police Department is reminding citizens to keep car doors locked and valuables concealed. Citizens are also advised to contact police to report any suspicious activity.
