Witness to Incident Lands in Jail After Profane Outburst

A strange encounter at the Stars and Strikes in Dacula led to an arrest, but not of the person who prompted the call to authorities.

A Winder, Ga. woman was at Stars and Strikes on Sept. 21 when she and her 5-year-old son were approached by an elderly male. The male, who according to the police report was carrying a backpack and talking to himself, told the woman he liked her son and wanted to take his picture.

The woman would not allow the man to photograph her son and told him to leave them alone. The man eventually left and the woman called police.

When the officer arrived at the bowling alley, the elderly man was gone but a man who had been with him at the time of the incident, later identified as Scott Masterson, 31, of Snellville, was still at the scene. Masterson reportedly admitted being present, but said "it was no big deal." While speaking with Masterson, the officer noticed a "strong odor of alcohol coming from his person." When asked how much alcohol he had consumed, Masterson replied "I only had two beers."

The officer instructed Masterson to wait outside the bowling alley while he spoke with the Winder woman. As the officer was speaking with the woman, Masterson came inside the bowling alley and reportedly said, "You should not have said that you [expletive deleted]" and then walked back outside.

The officer followed Masterson outside and placed him under arrest for disorderly conduct for using vulgar and profane language in front of the woman's 5-year-old child.

Masterson was transported to the jail without incident and released later that day on a $1,300 bond.
