Witness Watches as Thief Smashes Car Window, Grabs Designer Purse at Dacula Daycare

Suspects later caught on surveillance footage at bank while attempting to use stolen bank card.

A Dacula man was able to describe exactly what happened during a Nov. 5 car break-in at a local daycare.

The witness was sitting in his car in the parking lot of The Goddard School, located at 1362 Auburn Road, when he noticed a woman exit her car and go into the school just before 8 a.m. A white four-door Toyota with Florida plates occupied by two males was parked next to the woman's Ford Fusion, the witness said.

After the woman walked inside, a male reportedly leaned out of the Toyota, smashed the driver's side window of the Ford Fusion, reached inside the vehicle and grabbed the woman's purse. The witness said the males then left the school in the Toyota heading in the direction of Old Fountain Road.

The stolen Dooney & Bourke purse contained several phones, cash, credit cards, a bank debit card and the woman's driver's license.

The next day, the woman contacted Gwinnett County Police to advise someone had attempted to use her stolen bank card at a Chase Bank in Conyers. The bank retained possession of the card and the manager advised surveillance footage of the suspects was available.

The case is listed as active.

On Oct. 14, a thief or thieves smashed the window of a car parked at a daycare facility on Hamilton Mill Parkway and stole a Pittsburgh Steelers purse. There were no witnesses to that incident. Several similar incidents have also been reported in the past two months Duncan Creek park.
