A Dacula woman claims $8,000 worth of jewelry was stolen out of her car while her vehicle was being cleaned at a local car wash.
According to the police report, the woman left her car at the Hamilton Mill Car Wash around 4:30 p.m. on May 18 and then walked next door to Walmart to do some shopping. The victim told police she left a diamond tennis bracelet valued at $5,000 and three gold bracelets valued at $1,000 each on the passenger seat of her car with a floor mat placed on top of them.
The victim retrieved her vehicle two hours later and said she did not notice the jewelry was missing until she left the car wash. She returned to the car wash, but said the manager refused to give her any information regarding who cleaned her car, so she called 911.
When interviewed by police, the car wash manager said there was no floor mat on the seat of the vehicle when the car was dropped off to be cleaned. The officer reviewed the security video, but did not see any evidence of theft.
The case is listed as active.
