Woman Hit Over Head With Beer Bottle During Bar Fight

Flowery Branch woman charged with aggravated assault after altercation at Dos Copas.

A jealous rage ended with a Flowery Branch woman being hauled off to jail after an Oct. 16 confrontation at on Hamilton Mill Road.

According to witnesses, Mary Wages, 35, of 7454 Woody Springs Drive in Flowery Branch, became angry after she saw a male friend speaking to another woman.

Witnesses said Wages poured a beer on the woman’s head and began striking her. One witness said Wages threw a beer bottle at the victim’s head before throwing the victim to the ground.

The victim told police she was sitting at a table with her friends when Wages approached her. The victim said Wages poured beer on her, struck her in the head and then they both fell to the floor. The investigating officer noted the victim had “a large bump on the back side of her head where she had been struck.”

Wages accused the victim of throwing beer on her and striking her. When asked if anyone witnessed the incident, Wages said no.

The Dos Copas manager provided police with a copy of video surveillance footage that corroborated the victim’s account of the incident.

Wages was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault. Wages was released from the Gwinnett County Detention Center later that day on a $5,700 bond.
