Woman Reports Over $1,000 in Cash Stolen in Smash and Grab

Victim left her purse inside her vehicle while she went for a walk at Little Mulberry Park.

A Buford woman said a thief or thieves got away with “over $1,000” after smashing her car window and stealing her purse while she walked around the lake at in Dacula.

On Sept. 15 around 3 p.m., the woman parked her car in the lot at the Hog Mountain Road entrance to Little Mulberry Park. When she returned to her car an hour later, her front passenger side window had been smashed and her purse taken.

The victim told police she left the purse on the floor between the front seats of her 2000 Ford Windstar. According to the victim, the purse contained over $1,000 in cash, her driver’s license, checks and multiple credit cards.

The Little Mulberry Park incident is just one of several cases of entering auto currently under investigation.

On Sept. 17, a Dacula woman called police after discovering her purse had been stolen out of her vehicle while she played laser tag at .  The woman said she thought she had locked her vehicle, but there were no signs of forced entry. The purse contained the woman’s driver’s license, iPhone, Social Security card and a credit card.

Gwinnett County Police are also investigating a Sept. 15 entering auto case in Apalachee Plantation. In that case, the thief or thieves entered the victim’s unlocked car and stole an MP3 player and a gear knob.

All three cases are listed as active.
