Young Robber Snatches Dacula Woman’s iPhone at Mall of Georgia

Suspect believed to be 15-17 years of age.

A Dacula woman became a robbery victim during a Nov. 19 visit to the Mall of Georgia.

According to the Gwinnett County Police report, the woman was sitting in front of the Nokia stand using her iPhone 5 when a young male grabbed the phone out of her hand and ran out of the front entrance of the mall.

A Salvation Army volunteer saw the male exit the mall and quickly enter a white 4-door Ford Focus. The male, she said, was yelling “Go! Go! Go!” as he "dove" into the vehicle. The woman described the suspect as a black male, 15-17 years of age, approximately 5-foot-4 and of thin build. At the time of the incident, the male was wearing a white t-shirt.

A worker at the Nokia stand saw the male though he did not see the actual robbery. The worker told police the suspect and three other males had been “hanging out” in front of his stand. The worker said he remembered specifics and could identify the males because “they looked like they were up to no good.” The worker said the suspect that snatched the phone had small twists in his hair and tattoos on both arms.

The case is listed as active.
