Sugarloaf Parkway is now one segment closer to Highway 316.
The next-to-last section of the Sugarloaf Parkway extension project opened on Aug. 18. The 1.4-mile section extends the parkway from Martins Chapel Road to West Campbell Road. The project also features one mile of upgrades including a new Bramlett Shoals connector and a realignment of Campbell Road.
The next section, the extension from West Campbell Road to Highway 316, is expected to open in the second half of 2012.
“We are pleased to open this section of the Sugarloaf Parkway extension on budget and ahead of schedule,” said Gwinnett Department of Transportation Director Brian Allen in a released statement. “This is part of our ongoing commitment to complete the road to Peachtree Industrial in Sugar Hill.”
Funding for the current extension was provided through SPLOST.
