Beaudreau Responds to Anonymous Robo-Call Attack

Beaudreau says claims in call are “completely false.”

UPDATED July 12 at 1:45 p.m.

On July 10, an unknown number of voters in Gwinnett County District 3 received an anonymous call urging them to “Vote no on Beaudreau.”

In the recorded message, a female voice said it is time for honest leadership on the county commission and accused current District 3 county commissioner Mike Beaudreau of voting to spend more than $1 million “to subsidize and study expanding the county airport.”

The caller claimed the county spent “hundreds of thousands of dollars” in legal fees and staff time on the issue.

“Worst of all,” the message continued, “Beaudreau wasted our money during a time we needed it most to pay for police and basic services.”

The anonymous caller further criticized Beaudreau for the county trash plan.

“We need straight talk, not politician talk. Vote no on Beaudreau. Let’s change this commission,” the call concluded.

The recorded message did not include any information regarding who paid for or authorized the call -- which is required by law

On July 11, Beaudreau responded with a recorded message of his own.

“This is Mike Beaudreau, your Republican county commissioner, calling to let you know that an anonymous robo-call was sent out to some of you in our district which questioned my integrity and lied about spending,” the recorded message began. “That call was completely false.”

Beaudreau said he trusts that voters who receive an anonymous attack call would not believe it.

“Unfortunately, as far behind in the polls as my opponents are, I believe there are more of these type calls coming,” he said.

Beaudreau encouraged voters with any questions about his record or votes that he has cast to call 678-597-8509.

“I’ll be happy to talk to anyone,” he added.

Beaudreau is currently seeking election to his third term on the county commission. He faces three Republican challengers in the July 31 primary:  Mike KoromTommy Hunter and Jerry Oberholtzer

Play the video to hear recordings of both calls. (Editor's note: Recordings of both the anonymous call and Beaudreau's response were left on my answering machine. The caller identification for the anonymous call displayed as "out of area." Beaudreau's response originated from 1-253-236-2014 and was identified as "survey.")

Would you allow an anonymous call to influence your vote? If you knew that one of the candidates was responsible for the anonymous call, would you look at that candidate in a less favorable light? What did you think of Beaudreau’s response to the call? Let us know in the comments.

Bannister Clan - No Administration? That some taxpayers compared to "The Season from Hell" if you're an Eddie and the Cruisers fan... Well he spent time in the sand box and shared in at least 4 MAJOR headline issues that weren't quite ready for prime-time in some folks eyes, so yeah there's a record there... But it seems these issues Mr Newton put forth could be hit head on and be dis-PATCH-ed rather easily.

"What would be interesting to know is who is behind "EthicsInGwinnett"?" This is both funny and sad at the same time on SO many levels ... So I guess I'll strike State Speaker Ralston from the yes column here and put the FBI down in his place?
Dr. Roberts July 15, 2012 at 12:47 AM
You, my friend, are completely off your rocker. What level of office is closer to "the community"? The county, in conjunction with cities, is the "community" you speak of. I've never met a man more upstanding, ethical, or more actively involved in the community as Mike. To throw him in with the rest of the crowd is an ignorant and an ill-informed decision. If you wish to make an arguement against a person use facts and experiences instead of misinformed, false, and utterly dumb comments with no factual basis.

Just a note to Mr. Walter Patterson who doesn't know me very well. I worked for Dwight Harrison when Mike was seeking his first term and have been following Mike's progress since that election. During that time I have never known Mike to tell an untruth even when he knew I very much disagreed with his position. He has integrity that I admire for he doesn't stoop to saying what he thinks any particular group wants to hear but what he believes is right. I will always campaign for the person I believe is the most qualified and a person I know I can trust. I hope you will do the same.

I thought the mailer and the website was a bit over the top. Just stick to facts! While a great portion of the info on the website is true I thought it was poor taste. His record the last two tearms are enough for me and a lot of other people to know he has to go. His record is enough without calling him a sleaze, or giving him a pencil mustache. As far as ethics in Gwiinnett whoever you are they dont like folks hiding behind screen names. I do think I know who you are.... Ha! Tommy Hunter for commissioner!

Truth will always be negative to a politician running for office , but on the other hand it will be OK to break an arm patting yourself on the back in a sick narcissist frenzy .

Mike, I have to agree with you on the trash plan. When he said the old plan was more socialistic than the new one I about fell out of my chair. It scares me to death that a man in power does not understand that was he pushed and voted for was socialism to it's core. The government dictating to you who you will use and how much it will cost you and taking the control out of your hands.
GregRodgers July 17, 2012 at 03:58 PM
So are any of the things on Mike the Sleaze true...?? Ricoh Copier deals....tax money for golf overpass for a pirvate course? The donations from donors. I've seen those before....nice to see him on the take! The trip to hawaii...if true is most likely a double dip for him....even tho...its probably legal and a confict of interest. Sleazy though!
Floyd Akridge July 18, 2012 at 04:56 AM
Jim...don't be a hater. The simple truth here is that Commissioner Beaudreau took the tie to get informed and make a decision that showed it and was in the best interests of the county and D3. Although the airport is now a non-issue please keep bringing it up. Who, in this political environment, DOESN'T want someone who won't bow to whatever winds are currently blowing and take the time to make an honest informed decision. You are helping Commissioner Beaudreau get elected and I want to personally thank you.
Floyd Akridge July 18, 2012 at 05:05 AM
Mike...I genuinely feel sorry for you. You based your campaign primarily on the airport and now not only is it not the primary issue...Commissioner Beaudreau, as everyone sees, took the time to get informed and make a decision that was in the best interests of the County and D3.**PLEASE** keep talking about the airport. Everytime you do it just shows Commissioner Beaudreau's leadership and integrity. By the way...you sure do love mud throwing don't you? First Hunter and now Oberholtzer. Not trying to be insulting but you can't throw mud without getting mud on your own hands.
Floyd Akridge July 18, 2012 at 05:07 AM
no it hasn't and I challenge you to put some facts on the table that the grand jury missed...notice I said FACTS...hysterical conjecture is not a FACT
Floyd Akridge July 18, 2012 at 05:12 AM
Greg...you are the kind of hysterical poster that probably won't even vote. Can you take consecutive seconds and think of just the IRS violations taking such payments would be? You have nothing but hysterical conjecture but are willing to slam a man's integrity. That tells everyone all they need to know about you. You must not be from the South.
Floyd Akridge July 18, 2012 at 05:14 AM
No Walter...that is not the case.
Floyd Akridge July 18, 2012 at 05:18 AM
MY GOD...is there NOTHING you will not say to demean Commissioner Beaudreau? What's next Mr. Mcarthy? such an action by any candidate would be a violation of campaign finance/disclosure laws. in the age of the internet you are a class A fool to try such. You WILL be caught. I do agree with you on their effectiveness. Waste of time.
Floyd Akridge July 18, 2012 at 05:20 AM
Jerome...R won't confirm if he's even a Gwinnett Resident. Sounds more like a hater that won't vote even if he is properly registered in the county. Thank you for your support for Commissioner Beaudreau. I voted for him today...we both have chosen wisely.
Floyd Akridge July 18, 2012 at 05:23 AM
Greg...why don't you try doing your own research and getting your own answers instead of just posting hysterical banter.

"Pink" Floyd It’s been awhile what’s with the all the "hater" stuff everywhere? There are policies in play and the mental processes that got us here that DON'T agree with a claim of "conservative values", it isn't hate to CLEARLY point that out. Uncomfortable for some candidates and supporters perhaps, but CLEARLY not hate. And as pointed out by none other than Dave Emanuel himself, I’m no stranger to the goings on in Gwinnett. So continue to focus on ME and not the CONTENT I bring to the topic. All and all it’s just another “Brick in the Wall”
R++ One of the Famous Dacula Crew July 18, 2012 at 03:11 PM
Floyd why not just post the data that CLEARLY proves the copier and bridge deals WRONG and slanderous in nature?
Jerome Williams July 20, 2012 at 03:28 AM
Hey Floyd and Janet your wasting your time here. Looks like this Patch is the home of the Dacula Boys Club. Or like a friend of mine calls them Korom's Koncubines. They are all Mike Korom buddies and don't look like they care much about the truth or being honest. Pretty low rent operation if you ask me.
R++ One of the Famous Dacula Crew July 20, 2012 at 04:36 AM
Don't let the real world facts get you in the behind on the way out then... Last time I checked, paying TWICE what others pay in the same market region for the same services isn't conservative policy. Increasing fees on one subset of residents to give another smaller subset a reduced price during an election cycle seems much more like a move President Obama would support don't you think? Low rent prices aren't a bad thing for conservatives you know, especially if the HIGHER item is exactly the same... I guess it just all depends on your personal definition of conservative.
Jerome Williams July 21, 2012 at 02:49 AM
Some things depend on definition of conservative. Others depend on your definition of ethics. Low rent was in reference to your ethics, not your politics. You take half-truths and lies and say theyre facts. Your ethics are something president Obama would support.

If you can call what you bring "content" you are nuts. Hate is not content...I thought you knew. I guess not. Maybe one day.....
Floyd Akridge July 21, 2012 at 03:05 AM
this is content? Go back to bed
Floyd Akridge July 21, 2012 at 03:07 AM
R...if you have a car it must only have a reverse gear. Why don't you PROVE the accusations. I know that's a step up in your thinking but that's how our legal system works.
Floyd Akridge July 21, 2012 at 03:11 AM
Jerome...People like R and GregRodgers are funny. They don't concern me in the least. Let them spew their hate. In the end they know what we know. Commissioner Mike Beaudreau has conducted himself with integrity and conservatism. He's the CLEAR leader in D3.
R++ One of the Famous Dacula Crew July 21, 2012 at 04:40 AM
Hey Floyd, it’s been awhile missed ya! Sorry “Pink” my car has far more gears than just “R”, ever notice you often can’t get out a ditch without that gear though? NOW back to the "HATE" - there’s no HATE here, it must just be your use of some alternate secret dictionary definitions, since you appear to BELIEVE and apparently SUPPORT charging some “fee” payers MORE on their trash tax bill, so another smaller “set” can get a “break” as new real CONSERVATIVE thinking… And that this program should go STATEWIDE! The BOC, the new age BANK of GWINNETT … Oh yes we CAN... And they sure DID!
R++ One of the Famous Dacula Crew July 21, 2012 at 04:45 AM
Sorry sir can YOU NOW PROVE for all what I have posted is half truths and lies??? My ethics are just fine How's that "HATE" working out for you though?
R++ One of the Famous Dacula Crew July 21, 2012 at 05:29 AM
I know it has to be hate, because it challenges YOUR man! The secret is revealed at last

AND while you’re Diggin’ Dig This! Because we STILL haven’t heard a thing on this matter, the trustee may be barred BY LAW in making a Demand, but in an ABUNDANCE of CAUTION, why keep this amount around if ETHICS is the main event? Why 4,500.00 of Kevin Kennerly moneys 3,500 from 2008 (and 1000 in 2006 if a stickler) haven't been returned, sent to Gwinnett for Kevin's outstanding taxes or RETURNED to Kevin’s bankruptcy trustee. This is the fastest proof of integrity (ethics) or simple fix any campaign could possibly make. Question from Oberholtzer to Beaudreau: Don't you think you should return campaign contributions from Kennerly? http://soundcloud.com/daculapatch/001-a-029-kristi-z0000355 http://www.gwinnettcounty.com/portal/gwinnett/Departments/Elections/CampaignDisclosureReports/CampaignContributionReports/BoardofCommissioners Kevin Kenerly (Personal) 02/02/ 2008 2,000.00 http://www.gwinnettcounty.com/static/departments/elections/pdf/Michael%20Beaudreau%20-%20CCDR%2003.31.08.pdf http://www.gwinnettcounty.com/portal/gwinnett/Departments/Elections/ Kevin Kenerly (Personal) 09/26/2008 1,500.00 http://www.gwinnettcounty.com/static/departments/elections/pdf/Michael%20Beaudreau%20-%20CCDR%2009-30-08.pdf Kevin Kernerly Campaign 2/15/2006 1,000.00 http://www.gwinnettcounty.com/static/departments/elections/pdf/Kevin%20Kenerly%20-%20CCDR%2003-31-06%20BOC%20District%204.pdf And if you can PROVE it's been done let us know OK?
