City of Dacula Considering Revised Fine Schedule

Fees for some offenses would be lowered as part of proposed changes.

The financial penalty for some city ordinance and traffic violations will be changed if the Dacula City Council approves a proposed revision to the city’s fine schedule.

In 2009, the City of Dacula adopted Lawrenceville’s fine schedule. Since that time, the Dacula Marshal’s office has noted some inconsistencies in the fine amounts.

For example, the fine for parking a car beside a no parking sign is the same amount as running a stop sign or traffic signal according to .

“It didn’t seem to be consistent with what we were trying to achieve,” Cline said.

Cline reviewed the fine schedule and lowered the fines for non-safety related offenses and implemented a more consistent rate for moving violations.

“There are a few fines that are mandated by state code,” he added.

The council will vote on the revised fine schedule at its Feb. 2 meeting. The council meets at , 442 Harbins Road. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
