In other business, the Dacula City Council:

  • Approved a proposed amendment to the city’s zoning resolution. The amendment places additional restrictions on temporary outdoor uses such as events held in the parking lots of city businesses. Businesses will now be limited to one event per calendar month not to exceed five per year. Each event is limited to two days in length. Businesses will also be required to pay a $50 fee and submit a two-page application. Additionally, businesses would be required to hire two P.O.S.T. certified officers for any event at which alcohol is served and comply with all provisions of the city’s alcohol and noise ordinances.
  • Approved a request to rezone a 4.28-acre piece of property on Harbins Road from single family residential to office institutional. The 1,500-square-foot home will be used as a personal care facility. The facility will house up to 10 patients. The planning department recommended approval for the zoning request.
  • Recognized senior Emily Peele for her artwork. Peele’s photographs have been on display at .
  • Authorized the City of Dacula to continue to participate with Gwinnett County in the Community Block Development Grant (CBDG) program, a program that provides grants from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
