Council to Meet This Week to Discuss 2030 Comprehensive Plan Updates

The City of Dacula has received bids related to the plan update and is likely to award the best, most responsive bid during the special called meeting.

The Mayor and Dacula City Council will hold a special called work session and special called city council meeting on May 15, 2013. The work session will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the special called city council meeting at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of the meetings is to discuss matters concerning the 2030 Comprehensive Plan update

The City of Dacula received bids through 3 p.m. on May 8, 2013 for professional services in the update of the City 2030 Comprehensive Plan. The bid opening was at 3:05 p.m. at City Hall. Seven companies provided bids that ranged from $120,400 to $19,000. The bids varied widely, but out of the seven, the City received three competitive bids well within the range of costs expected by the City Staff. The bids are being reviewed by Rochester & Associates and vetted for responsiveness and completeness. The City is likely to award the best, most responsive bid during the special called meeting.

I believe it is worth noting that the City generally sets a pre-bid conference with companies interested in bidding on a specific bid package. For the comp plan update bid package a non-mandatory meeting was held at City Hall on April 17, 2013 at 10 a.m. Companies that attended the pre-bid conference seem to have made the most responsive bids.

The reason for considering the bids at a special called meeting is that the update timeline for submitting to the Atlanta Regional Commission and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs doesn’t coincide with the regular Council meeting calendars.
