Dacula Council Sets Millage Rate for 2013

While the millage rate is increasing, the city's mayor said actual taxes collected will be roughly the same or slightly less than in 2012.

The Dacula City Council has set its millage rate for 2013. The millage rate is the amount per $1,000 that is used to calculate taxes on property.

The council voted Monday, July 15, to set the rate at 5.9 mills, up from the 2012 rate of 5.703.

"Because of the falling tax digest, down about another $3 million, the new millage rate will bring in about the same amount of money needed to balance the 2012 City budget," Mayor Jimmy Wilbanks said. "For most property owners, the actual taxes collected will be nearly the same or slightly less than from the previous year."
