Dacula Voters to Choose Between Montgomery, Wells

Dacula City Council runoff will be decided Tuesday, Dec. 6.

Voters within the City of Dacula will head to the polls Tuesday for the city council runoff election between Tim Montgomery and Hubert Wells.

Montgomery, the incumbent, faced two challengers for the at-large council seat. Political activist Vanessa Green was eliminated from the race after receiving 65 votes in the Nov. 8 election. Montgomery had the most votes with 132 while challenger and former Dacula City Councilman Hubert Wells finished second with 103 -- both totals less than the number of votes needed to win outright.

A councilman since 2005, Montgomery said he is seeking reelection because he wants to see the infrastructure in Dacula brought up to modern standards and wants to finish the job he started.

"The main reason I'm seeking a continuation in this seat is because I started the job and I was always raised that if you start something, you need to finish it," Montgomery said .

Wells, who resigned from his city council seat in 2005 to run an unsuccessful campaign for mayor of Dacula, said he is the right candidate for the city council job because he has "common sense."
