The Georgia Department of Driver Services has launched an online tool to help people deal with potentially long wait times.

Customers can now check the average wait times online before visiting any of the state's 64 customer service licensing centers, according to a DDS news release.

On the Wait Time Information page, customers will find the average expected wait time legend, according to the release. It utilizes green, yellow and red colors and symbols to rate the days of the week and hours for receiving service.

The graph lists the center's hours of operation by days of the week and displays the color codes. Wait times for nearby centers may also be displayed for a side by side comparison.

The data is compiled from two weeks of each location’s average wait time and is refreshed regularly. The times are published for comparison purposes only and may not reflect the actual wait times you experience.

The wait times can be accessed directly at www.dds.ga.gov/cscwaittimes, or by each center's street address on the main DDS website.

Customer frustration over long wait times were common after new regulations for license renewal went into effect on July 1, 2012.

Boy is this story misleading... I went on to view the wait times at 3 busy Gwinnett locations. They ALL say "less then 20 minutes" the I noticed the fine print on the DDS website that said "Times are averages based upon historic information. Times are published for comparison purposes only and may not reflect actual wait times you experience".Wow, so you really can't see a current wait time online ??? i was at the Lawrenceville location a few months ago and stayed there 2 hours. while there I noticed 6 emplyoees at windows, 2 were taking customers while 4 were looking busy until quiting time... And what poor attitudes from the employees.. i think that we should privatize this ASAP, You would see more productive work as well as shorter wait times... With the price we have to pay for this, Their is no reason that more peple can't be hired to handle this. A private company would know this and realize that the more people you handle, the more money you make... i wouldn't expect Government to know this....
