Gwinnett Residents Invited to Participate In Town Hall Meeting

The Civic League for Regional Atlanta is inviting the public to join a citizen conversation on transportation, growth and the future of Metro Atlanta.

Get a Move On, a 10-County Town Hall, will take place from 8:30 a.m. until noon on Saturday at the Loudermilk Center located at 40 Courtland Street NE in downtown Atlanta. This organization pulls together residents from the metro area's rural, suburban and urban areas to air out the issues surrounding next year's penny tax referendum for transportation projects.

According to a press release participants will hear presentations about the following: growth patterns and projections for the next 30 years, details about the Transportation Investment Act and the referendum and a talk on what it means to be a region. Attendees will get a chance to share their insights and opinions with the help of clicker technology and small-group discussions.

"Get a Move On" is a yearlong initiative that hopes to harness involvement about crucial regional issues that will reach beyond transportation to areas such as education, water and economic sustainability.

The following organizations are part of the "Get a Move On" Steering Committee: AARP-Georgia, Atlanta Planning Advisory Board, Atlanta Regional Commission, Citizens for Progressive Transit, Clayton Grassroots Leadership Institute; Cobb Community Foundation, Cobb County Young Republicans, Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, Faith and the City, Fulton County Taxpayers Foundation, Georgia Conservancy, Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities, Gwinnett Neighborhood Leadership Institute, League of Women Voters, Libertarian Party of Georgia, Livable Communities Coalition, Mothers and Others for Clean Air, Northeast Georgia Community Foundation, Partnership for Community Action, Partnership for Southern Equity, PEDS, Regional Council of Churches of Atlanta, Safe Routes to School, Statewide Independent Living Council of Georgia, United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta and Young Democrats of Georgia - Metro Atlanta.
