Pep Boys Special Use Permit, Variance Request Approved

One council member voted against the special use permit.

A special use permit to allow the construction of a 5,546-square-foot Pep Boys Auto Service and Tire Center on Dacula Road was approved by a 2-1 vote during the July 3 Dacula City Council meeting. Councilman Wendell Holcombe voted in opposition. A variance request to reduce the side yard setbacks from 10 feet to five feet was unanimously approved.

According to Councilman Gregory Reeves, only one person spoke in opposition to the request.

The Pep Boys will be located at 565 Dacula Road between the Walgreens and KFC/Taco Bell. A concept plan for the 1.35-acre site also includes a 7,590-square-foot retail building. A tenant for the second building has not yet been found, but, during last week's council work session, a representative for the developer indicated it could house a coffee shop or small restaurant.
