Fleet Maintenance Facility, Ethanol Fuel Storage Tank Requests Get Green Light From Planning Commission

A request to rezone several acres off Winder Highway near Freeman's Mill Road in Dacula from single-family residential to light industry for the purpose of operating a trucking company and truck fleet maintenance facility will go before the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners (BOC) later this month after the Gwinnett County Planning Commission recommended approval with conditions during their Jan. 7 meeting.

If the rezoning for the 3.58-acre plot in the 2900 block of Winder Highway is approved by the BOC, Max Trucking LLC plans to build a 7,200-square-foot, one-story metal building to be used as a business office and truck fleet maintenance shop.

The planning commission also recommended approval with conditions for a special use permit request for aboveground ethanol fuel storage tanks on property located in the 1400 block of Winder Highway. The tanks would be located in the rail yard compound of an automotive distribution facility located in the Gwinnett Progress Center, just southwest of Alcovy Industrial Boulevard. 

In other business, the planning commission tabled a rezoning request related to a 39.07-acre tract of land on Winder Highway until March 4.

WUSF 2 Sugarloaf LLC and Walton Georgia LLC have requested their property, located just south of 316, be rezoned from RA-200 (residential) to C-2 (commercial) for the purpose of building a commercial retail and officer center with four outparcels.
