Proposed High Speed Rail Station Locations Revealed, Including One Near Dacula

The proposed rail station locations for the Charlotte to Atlanta high-speed passenger rail service were discussed during a public meeting in Suwanee.

Dozens of people attended a public meeting Tuesday, June 4, to learn more about a high-speed passenger rail service that will connect Atlanta and Charlotte, N.C.

There are six proposed routes for the railway, including one that is along Interstate 85.

One of the rail stations could be in the Dacula area. The proposed station (see map) would be located on the south side of 316 between Winder Highway and Cedars Road. Other proposed stations are: Athens, Atlanta's airport, Augusta, Convington, Doraville, Gainesville, Suwanee, Toccoa and Tucker.

β€œAt this point, there is no preferred route based on any one consideration,” said DOT Project Manager Derrick Cameron according to the Athens-Banner Herald.

The Atlanta to Charlotte Passenger Rail Corridor Investment Plan project began in June 2012, and it is scheduled to end in June 2015. The study is estimated to cost $4.8 million.
