The Sunday sales referendum passed by a large margin with over 67 percent of voters approving the measure. In total, 48,721 voted in favor of allowing Sunday sale and 22,625 voted against during the March 6 referendum.

Dacula was one of several Gwinnett County cities that approved Sunday sales last November. Other cities putting the issue before the voters included Loganville, Lilburn, Suwanee, Auburn, Braselton, Lawrenceville, Snellville, Berkeley Lake, Duluth, Grayson, Sugar Hill and Norcross. All voted to allow Sunday sales.

According to a , the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution last November authorizing June 1 as the start date for Sunday sales meaning June 3 will be the first Sunday on which retail package sales will be allowed.

Its about time!! Sonny and HIS OWN PERSONAL agenda only delayed the inevitable, and all this time I thought Republicans wanted less Government intrusion into the lives of people. I guess its only when they dictate what's good for you...like Airports and Baseball Stadiums that no one wants or wanted. At least we got to vote on Sunday sales. The Sonny's of Gwinnett won't let us vote on the Airport because they know they will most likely find 68% of us (or more) would vote down the Airport too!
