Wells Defeats Montgomery in Runoff

Former councilman edges out incumbent by 13 votes.

Dacula voters have returned former councilman Hubert Wells to office. A total of only 135 votes were cast in the runoff. Wells defeated incumbent Dr. Tim Montgomery by a margin of 74-61.

Wells was one of two people to challenge Montgomery in this year's election. Political activist Vanessa Green was eliminated from the race after receiving 65 votes in the Nov. 8 election. Neither Montgomery or Wells had enough votes needed to win outright, forcing the runoff.

Wells last served on the Dacula City Council in 2005. His new term will begin in January 2012.
