Woodall Casts Vote to Restart Offshore Leasing

Legislation will loosen restrictions on offshore drilling.

Rep. Rob Woodall (R-GA-07) believes H.R. 1230, the “Restarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act,” could have numerous benefits.

“According to a report released Monday by the Energy Information Administration, the average price of gasoline is $3.96. Due in part to the President’s refusal to allow drilling opportunities in the United States, American families and businesses continue to suffer from these terrible prices at the pump,” Woodall said in a released statement.  “I was proud to cast my vote in favor of H.R. 1230, a bill that will expand energy production and create jobs.”

The United States House of Representatives passed H.R. 1230 on May 5 by a 266-149 margin.

Woodall said he will continue to support legislation to eliminate unnecessary regulations and allow the country to take advantage of available resources.

“It is ridiculous that our nation remains so dependent on foreign oil when we have such valuable untapped resources right in our backyard,” he said.
