While some Americans may be able to obtain subsidized insurance through the health care exchanges, others are being hit with "sticker shock" upon learning what their health care costs will be in 2014.

The Detroit News reports the fees and taxes alone could affect nearly 60 percent of Americans who get insurance through their employers. Royal Oak, a marketing support company, is passing along those fees to employees.

"The federal taxes and fees will cost the company $11-$15 per month for each of the 85 employees and family members enrolled in the company’s health care plan. A family of four, for example, would pay up to $720 a year," the article stated.

In addition to the taxes and fees, other costs are also going up. Some employers are holding down premium costs by switching to plans that have higher deductibles, out-of-pocket limits and copays -- in some cases, much higher. Speaking personally, my husband's cost for insurance through his employer will change significantly in 2014. While the premium will only be 6 percent higher, the office visit copay will go up by 20 percent, the deductible by 50 percent per individual and the maximum out-of-pocket costs will double in 2014.

According to NBC News, policies in the federal exchange and in many states have an annual deductible that often tops $5,000 for an individual and $10,000 per couple. Co-payments for visits to a medical specialist can cost $50 to $75 or more.

WOW! Just read the mock poll results. 63%! Wait...I thought that was only supposed to be rich people who don't need their money? I make $25,000 yr. and I'm going in the hole to accommodate this. So much for the middle class not being affected. I wonder what else this unprepared administration is going to throw at us. We'll all be under government rule before long (probably their plan all along). I never understood how that works though. If you tax everybody and then redistribute back to same people...then ....everybody is EQUALLY POOR unless the government gives you something. =======================How is that a good thing? I remember growing up hearing about communism across the pond. Who would have thought that we'd have a government religion called liberalism that would eventually take down our strong nation? I believe Barb was right in quoting the scripture out of Thessalonians about the people having a strong delusion and believing a lie. Barb you forgot the part about even the elect being fooled. That's the saddest part.

What many don't understand is that economics will be hit the hardest. My income was at a place where I could pay my bills with a little bit left over. Now, not only do I not have any left over, but I'm at a deficit. Forget Walmart and other economic stimulus's. The economy will be hit the hardest. Hopefully, as the ACA proves to be a bomb, people will have their eyes opened enough to look at some of the other ideas out there. ===========Tom Price is one with an excellent idea that will profit the middle and lower middle class, and trickle down to the poor who can't afford insurance. Hopefully, if the people that care outnumber those that don't educate themselves in what's going on in the world around them, then we should easily get a turn around in the senate in 2014. THEN, get rid of Boehner in the House. We need to start putting people in power who are qualified and stop playing these partisan games. People are hurting and pretty soon will be even worse. All because of one party wanting control. People need to wake up to what is happening to them.

Inviting Dave, John B., and all others to a new poll. More interesting than the last one. This one is based on experience rather than opinion (not that opinions will not be given - lol).
