Hand Washing, Mold on Ice, Other Violations Earn Starbucks Failing Grade

Cumming Highway location scored 62 out of 100.

A north Gwinnett County Starbucks location drew a failing grade from Gwinnett County health inspectors this week.

Starbucks at 6001 Cumming Highway near Sugar Hill scored 62 out of 100 on May 13, according to the Gwinnett County Health Department inspection report. A follow-up inspection is required within 10 days.

Inspectors observed several violations, including two employees not washing their hands between working the cash register and preparing food, mold build-up in the ice machine, and an employee not wearing a hair restraint.

The store also was cited for repeat violations for storing food containers in front of the hand sink and blocking access, and improper dilution of sanitizer in a spray bottle.

Previously, Starbucks scored 87 on Feb. 11, 2013, and 94 on Feb. 23, 2012.
