Waffle Batter in Use 7 Days Past Expiration Date, Expired Milk, Old Cheesecake and Other Violations

One restaurant to be reinspected within 10 days due to score below 80 and warned of permit suspension if third repeat violation occurs.

The health department is tasked with ensuring restaurant compliance with applicable health and safety regulations. The following restaurant scores are the most recent scores posted on the Gwinnett, Newton, Rockdale Health Departments website as of Dec. 10.

  • Violation of Code: [.03(5)(c) ] Observed employees changing gloves to handle food without washing hands. Had employee wash hands. Hands must be washed between glove changes.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.04(4)(a) ] Observed employee touch cooked pasta with bare hands. Had employee reheat pasta to 165. No bare hand contact with ready to eat food.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.03(4)(a)-(f) ] Person in charge unable to name all five symptoms and diseases of when to exclude or restrict. Went over employee health policy and gave handout to person in charge. Person in charge must know the employee health policy.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.03(5)(d) ] Observed employee washing hands in vegetable sink. Had employee wash hands in hand sink. Hands may only be washed in a hand sink.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.04(6)(c)] Two plates of stuffed pastas left on table to thaw at room temperature. Had stuffed pastas placed in walkin cooler to finish thawing. Foods must be thawed using the proper methods.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.06(5)(o),(p) ] Dumpster missing the drain plug. Drain plug needs to be replaced on the dumpster.  New Violation.
  • Remarks: Cheesecake dated 11/23. Cheesecake discarded at time of inspection. One employee drink on prep table. Drink removed. Drinks must be stored in area away from food and dishes.

  • Violation of Code: [.03(5)(c) ] Employee put biscuits in oven then put on gloves and then picked up a tortilla. Had employee stop and discard tortilla and wash hands before donning new gloves.   • Violation of Code: [.04(6)(f) ] Three containers of waffle batter, chili, Hash browns, and chocolate milk cold-holding in 4-door upright cooler at temperatures above 41oF. Waffle batter holding under prep station at temperatures above 41oF. Items discarded. Cold-held potentially hazardous foods should be maintained at or below 41oF.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.04(6)(g) ] Three containers of waffle batter dated 11/26 and 11/27 still in use past 7 day expiration. Items were discarded. Correctly date-marked refrigerated, ready-to-eat, potentially hazardous foods should be discarded within 7 days from the date of preparation  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.07(6)(g) ] Observed chlorine sanitizer above 200 ppm in the sanitizer buckets. Sanitizer was discarded and new sanitizer was provided at the appropriate level. Sanitizer should be at the recommended levels, sanitizer that is too high may be toxic.  Corrected On-Site.  Repeat Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.04(8)(b) ] Two gallons of milk dated 11/19 and 12/5. Milk was discarded. Packaged, commercially processed foods for sale to the consumer should be removed from sale immediately after the manufacturer’s expiration date or sell-by date  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.05(6)(a) ] 4-door upright cooler holding at air temperature of 43.2oF. Cooler not holding cold enough to maintain food temperatures of 41oF or below. Repair cooler.  New Violation.
  • Remarks: FOOD IN THE FREEZER FROZEN SOLID. Temperatures in top prep unit holding at borderline temperatures. Recommend adjusting temperatures. A REINSPECTION WILL BE PERFORMED WITHIN 10 DAYS DUE TO A SCORE BELOW AN 80 B. BE MINDFUL THIRD REPEATS RESULT IN PERMIT SUSPENSION.

  • Violation of Code: [.04(6)(i) ] Facility did not have written procedures for time as a control for the cheeses and tomatoes. Filled out time as a control procedures. When time as a control is used instead of temperature control facility must have written procedures in place.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.04(4)(m) ] wet wiping clothes stored in sanitizer solution below 150 ppm. New sanitizer buckets made.Wet wiping clothes must be stored in proper sanitizing solution.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
  • Violation of Code: [.07(5)(a),(b) ] Cooler door coming apart, causing door to not shut right. Equipment must be maintained in good repair.  New Violation.
