Peach Waffle Not So Peachy

After seeing so many delicious-looking photos of Waffle House's peach waffle on Instagram, I finally had to go try one this past weekend.

I'm sorry to say it wasn't what I expected. You know how blueberry muffins made with fresh blueberries (or even the canned ones that come in some mixes) taste so much better than the muffins made with the dried blueberry bits? Well, I was expecting actual peaches not dried peach bits and I think these waffles would have been a whole lot better had they had moist peach pieces. I don't know why I got the idea in my head that they would (probably all the marketing material showing fresh peaches), but I was wrong.

When I got a bite of waffle with peach bits in it, it did taste peachy. Peachy and crunchy. Dried peach pieces are just not my thing I guess. Mine apparently wasn't mixed well because all those peach bits ended up grouped in the center of the waffle. I kept thinking of Frankenberry cereal when I was eating the waffle. I think the peace pieces had a similar texture and tanginess.

As for the waffle itself, I think they've changed their batter. I know they've changed their waffle irons. The waffle was smaller and I swear it had a different consistency.

Back to the peach version - you can choose to have it served with peach sauce on top. Thankfully, I opted not to do that but got a little on the side. The color was not very appealing - think a peach version of apple butter. The flavor wasn't bad, but it wasn't something I would've wanted all over my waffle.

Final verdict: not impressed.
