Search & Rescue
A friend sent this video short to me the other day, and I was moved to tears. Very touching, and it speaks to a deeper truth I’ll share below-

Being dog-lovers ourselves, my wife and I loved the beautiful ending to this story. The Avril song (the mild profanity notwithstanding) was very fitting to the clip as well. As I pondered this, it reminded me of the salvation we have been given in Jesus Christ.

Like Fiona, I was spiritually poor, blind, naked before He found me. (Revelation 3:17)
Like Fiona, I was without hope, without God, and didn’t even know any better. (Ephesians 2:12)

Like Fiona, I too was rescued (Psalm 18:19), and He brought me into His own. (Colossians 1:13)
Like Fiona, I was cleansed (1 John 1:9), and Christ opened the eyes of my heart. (Acts 26:18)
Like Fiona, I too was given a new identity in Christ, a new forever home. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Like Fiona, I have been adopted into the family of God, by the blood of Christ. (Romans 8:15)
Maybe that’s the deeper reason the video resonated so much with me. As a Christ-follower, I saw myself in that story- the search and rescue, the redemption, the new life and joy. This Thanksgiving, I will give thanks, not just in generic terms, but specifically for my own salvation, bought by Christ.
