Be a Vet for a Day at UGA

Special event provides high school seniors with the opportunity to learn more about veterinary medicine.

Want to be a veterinarian? Come try it out for a day.

Registration begins on Aug. 10 for the seventh annual “Vet School for a Day" at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. The Sept. 28 event is open to high school seniors and will provide students with the opportunity to learn about careers in veterinary medicine.

During the event, students will tour the teaching hospital, hear a panel discussion by faculty veterinarians in a variety of specialties and meet veterinary student leaders. Students also will learn the admission requirements for vet school and what they need to study to be prepared.

Registration will run through Sept. 9.  All students must have an adult chaperone (parent, counselor or teacher). Students pay nothing, but each chaperone must pay $15 for food.

The David Forehand Foundation sponsors “Vet School for a Day.” The foundation was created in memory of UGA alumnus David Forehand (D.V.M., class of 1976). For more information on the program, click here.
