Georgia Students Encouraged to Serve on Student Advisory Council

It's a new school year for Dacula students. Check here each Monday and learn what is happening in our local area schools.

Dr. John Barge, State School Superintendent, is currently accepting applications for the 2011-2012 Student Advisory Council. Any Georgia student in grades nine through 12 are eligible to apply. Once selected, the members of the Student Advisory Council will meet with Dr. Barge twice during the school year. Meetings are currently scheduled for Nov. 4, 2011 and March 7, 2012. Interested applicants must be able to attend both of these meetings.

The role of selected members is to serve as advisors and liaisons between the Department of Education and Georgia students. At scheduled meetings, discussions regarding how decisions made at the state level are affecting students throughout Georgia will take place.

Interested students who would like more information may contact Weston Burleson by email or by calling (404)-657-1340. Applications must be received by Sept. 6.
