This week, parents will have the opportunity to learn more about two of Gwinnett County Public Schools’ premiere offerings.
On Tuesday, Nov. 15, , a GCPS program available to all Gwinnett County students, will . During the open house, prospective students and their parents can tour the facilities and learn more about the career programs offered through Grayson Tech.
Also on Nov. 15, Osborne, Dacula and Twin Rivers eighth graders, along with their parents, have the opportunity to attend . The meetings will take place in the GSMST cafeteria and are targeted for those students interested in enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year.

In other school news:
- will host the school’s annual “turkey trot” race on Nov. 16. Fifth grade students will race around the school and compete for prizes including Thanksgiving dinner favorites such as turkey, ham, pumpkin pie, and fruit.
- on Nov. 11 to honor veterans in the Dacula community. School social studies teachers organized the event.
- Matt Bryant will visit Duncan Creek Elementary this week to honor first grade student Olivia Shaw who recently won a “Punt, Pass and Kick” competition and will travel to the Georgia Dome on Nov. 27 to compete against other students at an Atlanta Falcons game.
- will host a “Celebration of Learning” on Dec. 5 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The event will feature activities and displays from all departments.
- Dacula High School students Taryn Anthony and Will Searcy were recently named the DHS winners of this year's Wendy's High School Heisman.
- Dacula and varsity cheerleaders traveled to Columbus this past weekend for the competition cheerleading state finals.
- The Gwinnett School of Mathematics Science and Technology’s (GSMST) Science Olympiad team recently placed first at the Rockdale Magnet School for Math, Science and Technology Invitational Science Olympiad Tournament. GSMST's team won first place in seven of sixteen events. Team members include Aditya Ragunathan, Anthony Tsou, Arsalan Sufi, Daniela Ruiz, Diana Hernandez, Frank Cha, Hanfei Wang, Jessica Allison, Lilian Chan, Morrison Nolan, Na Oh, Shawn Albert, Stephanie Diaz, Urvashi Betarbet, and Willie Jin.
