MCHS Continues to Add Students

Mill Creek now has 65 more students than forecast. DHS enrollment remains lower than expected.

Gwinnett County Public Schools today released numbers from the fourth enrollment count of the 2011-2012 school year.

, the largest high school in Gwinnett, remained ahead of forecast with an enrollment of 3,546 students, up from 3,542 at last count. The total puts Mill Creek with 65 students more than forecast.

The enrollment count, conducted on Aug. 29, is one of five scheduled between the start of the school year and the day after Labor Day. The last enrollment count will be held on Sept. 6.

Currently, the school district as a whole is 275 students below forecast compared with 761 students at last count. GCPS’ total enrollment is currently 162,184. , GCPS has added 5,225 students.

remains below forecast with 1,824 students -- 115 fewer than projected. Archer High School currently has 1,916 students (32 above forecast) and Mountain View has 1,889 students (55 below forecast).

Of the GCPS middle schools, Hull Middle in Duluth continues to lead enrollment with 2,301 students. The Aug. 29 enrollment count showed with 1,541 students up from 1,518 students during the first count and with 1,639 students compared to 1,641 during the first count. Twin Rivers currently has 1,480 students.

As of the Aug. 29 count, Hopkins Elementary in Lilburn had the most students of any GCPS elementary school with 1,738. In the Dacula area, had 1,270 students followed by with 1,172, with 1,043, with 1,001, with 861, with 631 and with 584.
