MCHS Enrollment Continues to Swell

Enrollment at the county's largest high school now 61 students more than forecast.

Gwinnett County Public Schools today released numbers from the third enrollment count of the 2011-2012 school year.

, the largest high school in Gwinnett, remained ahead of forecast with an enrollment of 3,542 students or 61 more than expected.

The enrollment count, conducted on Aug. 22, is one of five scheduled between the start of the school year and the day after Labor Day. The remaining enrollment counts will be held on Aug. 29 and Sept. 6.

Currently, the school district as a whole is 761 students below the expected total enrollment of 162,459. , GCPS has added 4,739 students including 1,049 within the past week.

remains below forecast with 1,821 students -- 118 fewer than projected. Archer High School currently has 1,910 students (26 above forecast) and Mountain View has 1,876 students (68 below forecast).

Of the GCPS middle schools, Hull Middle in Duluth continues to lead enrollment with 2,298 students. The Aug. 22 enrollment count showed with 1,542 students up from 1,518 students during the first count and with 1,640 students compared to 1,641 during the first count. Twin Rivers currently has 1,479 students.

As of the Aug. 22 count, Hopkins Elementary in Lilburn had the most students of any GCPS elementary school with 1,723. In the Dacula area, had 1,271 students followed by with 1,171, with 1,042, with 1,000, with 861, with 629 and with 584.
