Mill Creek Art Students Win National Awards

Honors part of the 2011 National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

Two have received national honors for their entries in the 2011 National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

received a gold medal and won a silver medal. Kim and Rossouw were among more than 50,000 young artists and writers competing for top honors. A total of 1,300 students received national awards.

The silver medal recognizes high honors at the national level and the gold award is presented to the most outstanding art pieces. Kim’s gold medal winning piece will be on display in New York during the 2011 National Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Exhibition this June.

In connection with the awards, Kim and Rossouw are now eligible for scholarship opportunities. Their teacher, Mike Lasseter, was also honored.

The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards program offers recognition and scholarship opportunities for students in grades seven through 12.
