Mill Creek Enrollment Continues to Exceed Forecast

Dacula High School, GCPS as a whole currently below expected enrollment.

As of Aug. 15, the enrollment at Mill Creek High School remains ahead of expectations for the 2011-2012 school year.

Gwinnett County Public Schools held its second enrollment count on Aug. 15. The count showed MCHS with 3,531 students or 50 more than planners had forecast for the school.

Dacula High School had a total of 1,810 students -- 129 fewer than projected. Nearby Archer High had 1,905 students (21 above forecast) while Mountain View’s enrollment stands at 1,861 students (83 below forecast).

The school system as a whole is currently 1,810 students below forecast at 160,649 students. Planners predict the system will enroll 162,459 by the final enrollment count that takes place after Labor Day.

β€œBased on these preliminary numbers, district planners expect the school system's post Labor Day enrollment to be very close to the forecast,” said GCPS Director of Media Relations Jorge Quintana in an emailed statement.

Of the GCPS middle schools, Hull Middle in Duluth continues to lead enrollment with 2,283 students. The second enrollment count showed with 1,544 students up from 1,518 students during the first count and with 1,642 students compared to 1,641 during the first count.

As of the Aug. 15 count, Hopkins Elementary in Lilburn had the most students of any GCPS elementary school with 1,699. In the Dacula area, had 1,269 students during the second count followed by with 1,168, with 1,043, with 999, with 854, with 625 and with 582.

Additional enrollment counts will be held on Aug. 22, Aug. 29, and Sept. 6.
